This book is now out of print.

For anyone seeking information the sequel - The Life of Reilly - mentioned at the end of Blood, I'm sorry: you won't find any info here other than the following: I'm not sure when The Life of Reilly will be written.

Blood Is Thicker Than Water was my first attempt at a novel, and at publishing. I made a lot of mistakes and I learned a great deal. I took it out of print because I am tired of wincing every time I look at the cover and cringing every time I consider the lack of editing. I am tired of people asking me where the sequel is because they loved the book - and I stupidly promised a sequel I hadn't written yet at the end of it. And because the book was written 16 years ago, and represented my understanding of the world at that time. I no longer want to actively appear to promote or believe some of the ideas I left floating around in Blood. And, and... It is not representative of my current writing.

Don't get me wrong: I love the Reillys - more than any fan of the book could love them. I wrote them. I spent several years of my life writing about them. Honestly, I no longer feel that version of their story does them justice, or says what I would like to say about them now - now that I'm older and wiser and write better.

Someday I will rewrite their story. I have a plethora of ideas on how. It is likely I will write several different books taking a couple different tacks. One of them is solely from Amy's perspective, and telling her complete story - which is where The Life of Reilly was heading. BTW, if Ido that, it will no longer be a vampire story, per se: it will veer off happily into the land of science fiction. Another tale might be Jake's, and it would deal with his relationship with Lorcan from the beginning.

The problem is, my muses aren't necessarily intertested in vampires and/or Amy right now. They want to explore the gender issues of eunuchs and the intersection of cultures between the Roman empire and the Celtic tribes of Britain in the First Century.  However, as fickle as my muses are wont to be between novels, that could change and the next book I write after Wolves might very well be the new version of Blood. So, if you want more, I suggest you bookmark this page and check back from time to time.
